Distinctively crafted expanding scissor tongs. Used for lighting a tobacco pipe. The flexible arms allowed the user to pick up an ember without getting too close to the heat and flames. Great old surface. A nice primitive example of early blacksmithing that remains as functional today as when it was created over two centuries ago.
Date: Late 18th century.
Size: Closed – 9 1/2″ x 3 1/2.” Extends to 21″ long.
Condition: Excellent with age appropriate use wear.
