Fantastic large production sized hay cutter. Solid maple. Used for cutting hay in the production of thatch, brooms and in other similar industries.

2 1/4″ wide single board base with mortised center cut. Single board top section includes a handle and gently tapered blade. The two sections are expertly connected with a pinned dowel, capped with a faceted head. Nicely formed ogee cuts on the lower base and upper blade. All remaining parts are smoothly beveled or tapered. Weighs nearly 10lbs! Outstanding old untouched dry surface.

Though created as utilitarian, the simple well executed design combines with the quality of craftsmanship to create an amazing object of beauty. This is a rarely seen item, offered in superb condition.

Size: 47″ long. 7 1/2″ greatest height. 2 1/4″ thick base.

Condition: Old worm holes (long vacant). Slight separation at handle. Expected aging and use wear. Overall excellent.
