Unusual tole painted tin and wood foot warmer. Excellent untouched surfaces with nice patina. Fantastic original paint. Top is yellow with a black border and red pin striping. Possible date on top. Wire bail handle. Pegged tongue & groove constructed walnut top. Center stretchers show heavy wear from years of use. Bottom wood supports attached with wrought nails. Two of the tin sides are vented. Tin heater can with pressure seal lid. A wonderful early example. One of the best I’ve ever had. Writing this description in January, with a windchill on 1 degrees this AM, I am reminded of how important foot warmers were before the use of electricity.
Date: First half of the 19th century.
Size: 7 3/4″ square. 6″ tall.
Condition: Overall excellent with age appropriate wear and paint loss. Old stable split to underside of one top stretcher. Latch possibly replaced.
