Folk Art Ship In a Bottle

Wonderful folk art ship in a bottle. Stands on it’s side nicely. Heavy thick glass bottle is embossed, “VALLEY OF THE MOON/ CHOICE CALIFORNIA WINES/ WINE COMPANY.”Also, “FULL HALF GALLON” on the back. On the base is an “M” and “11,” possibly for the year 1911.  No doubt this was a choice wine, as all good wine comes with a screw on lid (Ha, ha!).  The fully rigged wood ship is named “Mabel W.” There are a number of paper figures that have been cut out and pasted in place (like the ship’s name). Many carved and painted details add to the fun folksy appeal of this primitive nautical folk art gem. Recently discovered in NW Arkansas.
