Fantastically detailed carved folk art coconut. These were often carved by sailors as mementos from their long voyages in the 18th and 19th centuries. Lion head at one end. Quiver and arrows at the other end. This is a fine example of nautical folk art. The best soft untouched surface.

Date:   1st half of the 19th century

Size:   4 1/2″ x 3 3/8″ x 1 3/8″ tall

Condition: Tight age split by quiver.  Small unimportant worn spot at lion’s nose.
