Great looking American occupational shaving mug made for C.C. Cates, a grocer. Beautifully hand colored large scene depicting a grocer tying up a bundle for a well dressed female customer.Fantastic detailed interior scene. Custom gold leaf decoration. Base has 2 different marks. The blank mug had a “LIMOGES/ FRANCE” mark first. After the blank mug was decorated it received a second mark for the decorator, Koken Barber Supplies of St. Louis. This is considered the premier mug decorating company, as is evidenced by the colorful and detailed design. Base mark reads, “THE WORLD OUR FIELD/ KOKEN/ ST. LOUIS/ TRADE MARK.” It includes a barber chair on a winged globe. This is a choice example.
