Fantastic primitive oversized mortar and pestle. Original grain painted surface on mortar. Heavy base wear indicates many years of use on this industrial sized piece. Likely used in a large pharmacy or hospital to fill bulk orders. As big as a display piece, but clearly used. Incredibly heavy set. The mortar alone weighs over 15lbs! The original tiger maple pestle weighs over 3lbs. This is the largest funtional antique mortar and pestle you will find.

Date: Mid-late 19th century

Size:  Mortar is 16 1/2″ tall with a 9″ diameter. Pestle is 26 1/2″ long. Together they stand 30 1/2″ tall.

Condition:  Typical use wear and age cracks. Overall quite good.
