Early 1900s Folk Art Carved Marble Plaque – Indian Chief

Nice relief carved marble plaque depicting an Indian chief. Probably a souvenir from Marble City, Oklahoma, based on several similar identified examples. Great character. Nice old untouched surface. Roughly scratched initials on back appear to spell “PHYLEE.” Heavy piece - weighs about 4 1/2 pounds. Discovered in Eastern Oklahoma.

Date: Early 1900s

Size: 8 1/4″ wide x 8″ tall x 7/8″ thick

Condition: A few old scratches and minor flakes, the largest of which is to the top right corner and measures about 1/2″ x 1/4″. Overall very nice.
