Wrought Iron armor wrist and hand guard. Made in the 19th century for a well appointed Victorian home. All joints are fully flexible. Made from 26 separate pieces of sheet iron. Excellent old untouched surfaces. Hard to part with this one!

During the second half of the 19th century the newly rising upper middle class followed the fashion of the more elite by filling their new homes with the trappings of European Medieval decor. This often included several well positioned suits of armor to reflect one’s noble heritage. When the real thing was beyond a pressed budget, there were satisfactory substitutes that could be produced locally.

The piece being offered here is likely such an example.
