Fun folk art oil painting on artist’s board. Wonderful subject matter. A young lad, having just left the dreaded dentist, has decided to voice his contrary opinion with some well worded graffiti below the ironically titled sign that advertises, “DR. PULLEM/ PAINLESS DENTIST.” At the boy’s feet sits a dog, eagerly awaiting some attention, while another smaller pooch ambles by. Great composition and humor to the scene. A cool and unique piece discovered in Fort Smith, Arkansas at a local estate sale.
Please note that the frame is not very old.
Date: 1920’s.
Size: Painting is 17″ x 13 3/4″. Frame is 18 3/4″ x 15 1/2″.
Condition: Appears to have been lacquered originally – this has slightly yellowed. Note the black and white background on the first photo to gauge actual tone of painting. There are a few corner holes and minor rough spots along the rim and corners.
