Rare New England Miniature Open Pontil Blown Glass Jar

Sweet hand blown miniature jar. Likely used as a salve or ointment pot. More often seen in this form as a larger fruit or storage jar. Crude flared lip. Sharp open pontil on base. A good slant to lip and striations in the glass add to the character of this diminutive lettle gem. A rarely seen piece of early American blown glass. Likely a product of a New England glasshouse.

Date: 2nd quarter of the 19th century

Size: 2″ tall. 1 1/2″ diameter.

Condition: Unimportant micro flake on the lip. Otherwise perfect.
