Sweet little vintage roadside souvenir painting depicting famous Signal Peak, which is located about 10 miles southeast of Big Spring, TX. The frame is made from local cactus. Signed at lower left, “a.l. edward.” Paper back inscribed in pencil, Signal Peak” and “Signal Peak on highway…..on road to Carls(bad, NM).” The dirt road pictured is now modern day Highway 176, which is still a direct link from Big Spring to Carlsbad. Just as today, roadside souvenir shops of the past offered tourists mementos of their travels. This is a nifty example of the earlier days of car travel in the American West. Superb untouched condition.
