Unusual primitive country coffee grinder. Sliding pine lid. Square nailed base. Crudely dovetailed drawer with turned knob. The body and interior are carved out of a solid block of pine. Wrought iron handle with hand cut nut. Iron interior grinding wheel. Turned maple handle. Fantastic untouched surfaces with a superb patina. Blackened baked on coffee residue on all sides and under the lid and drawer. Still reeks of coffee. Heavy piece weighs 3.5lbs. A unique form, and a real looker.

Date: 1820-1860.

Size: 6 1/2″ deep  x  3 1/2″ wide  x  8″ tall. Handle makes it 6″ wide

Condition: Aged and worn surfaces. Some minor losses at base corners and to lid. Age split at back. See photos.
