Awesome carved folk art shillelagh club. Initials, “TK” and “P” carved on shaft. Fantastic original painted surface with good alligatoring. A formidable primitive country weapon that would definitely crack a few skulls. Discovered in central Ohio.

A shillelagh is a wooden walking stick and club or cudgel, typically made from a stout knotty stick with a large knob at the top, that is associated with Ireland and Irish folklore. 

 

Date: 19th century.

 

Size:  20″ long. 2 1/4″ greatest diameter.

 

Condition: Typical use wear and aging. No splits or cracks.
