Pyrography is the art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated object such as a poker.  In the late 19th century, the development of the electric pyrographic hot wire wood etching machine automated the pokerwork process, and Eastlake and Art Nouveau pyrographic glove boxes and other works became popular in that era.
