Outstanding huge carved folk art whimsy. Made of glued pieces of wood, and then hand carved so that the ball moves freely within its frame. Likely, the carver simply didn’t have a large enough single piece of wood, so he made this one from multiple pieces. You will encounter hundreds of similar, but smaller, carved whimsies, before you find one of this scale. A wonderful primitive example.
