Unusual enamel decorated figural clay pipe. French. Marked, “437” and signed “NOEL A PARIS.” Great detail with a wonderful look, especially the black and white eyes. Modeled after what appears to be a French voyageur, or colonial trader. These simple kaolin clay pipes are rarely seen with enamel. A fun and colorful example of 19th century tobacciana.
